Seen: DIY QEE Project: Bart Simpson @ Meltdown

The DIY QEE Project: Bart Simpson featuring over 75 custom 10" Bart Simpson Qees rolled into Meltdown on this past Wednesday (8.1) for a short stop that concludes today.  Sponsored by Diamond Comics and Toy2R, the tour features creative interpretations of Matt Groening's beloved youthful prankster from a select group of artists offering a broad range of aesthetics.   The collection grows and changes as it travels -- recent additions include customs by Mad Barbarians and tokidoki.

A huge Simpsons mural by Jim Mahfood and Kofie One anchored the display of the Qees -- amazing work.   The two artists also created several smaller Simpsons themed wall-installations spread throughout the gallery. A personal appearance and signing by Simpsons Creator Matt Groening  was the highlight of the night.  Having seen the tour at both TTF and SDCC, this stop is clearly the tops hands-down so far.  Props to Meltdown for pushing the Simpsons Power Level to MAX with the extensive wall installations and  the  spacious layout of the customs.
