Seen: Herakut - Streichelzoo

German Duo Herakut opened their first US solo, Streichelzoo ("petting zoo"), last night (4.12.08) @ Carmichael Contemporary Gallery.  As we mentioned a few days ago in our preview, Hera and Akut have transformed the white walls of the gallery into one free flowing installation featuring numerous pieces on canvas, paper and cardboard.  Having seen the work-in-progress, the final installation is even more impressive.  Many of the individual pieces are stunning -- gritty yet enticingly artful.   We're  looking forward to big things from Herakut in the future.  Definitely ones to watch.

While Herakut's  art is in strong demand,  there were several very nice pieces still available as of about 8 PM on Saturday night -- if you're interested definitely contact the gallery.  Streichelzoo continues through Sunday May 4th, 2008.
