Reactor-88’s Custom Corner -- FlipADoodle

IMG_4189

Welcome to the June 2016 edition of Reactor-88's Custom Corner. This month we’re featuring FlipADoodle.

What’s your name?

My name is Ryan Guzman but in the Toy/Art world I go by FlipADoodle.

Where are you located?

Florida- Tampa to be exact. I was born in Orlando, but bounced back and forth from Florida to Washington State. I just moved back to Florida in June.

Day job or full-time artist?

I currently have a full-time job at an air compressor company, so all my nights are pretty much spent painting, customizing toys and hanging out with my wife and kids.

Any random things you want people to know about you?

I'm Filipino and German.

I've always owned a Volkswagen.

I got into vinyl toys when I found a Azteca Series 1 N.A.H.U.A.L. Dunny in the trunk of a car that was getting crushed at my brother-in-law’s auto salvage yard.

How long have you been customizing toys?

I have been customizing toys on & off for the last 3 years. It wasn't until this past year that I really started to put more time into painting and sculpting and actually finding my style.

Anything specific you’d like people to know about your toy work (style, influences, special techniques, etc.)?

I guess I would call myself a Geometric Abstract Artist?  I never plan out my designs on a toy.  I just start with a swirl, circle or square or some kind of doodle somewhere on the figure, and then I just let it flow.  For me, I really like not having a set plan when it comes to customizing toys.

Do you take commissions?

Definitely! I do take commissions, you just have to hit me up at [email protected].

Best way(s) for people to contact you/see your work/social links

For my most current work you can follow me on Instagram  and also on Facebook.
