Reactor-88 Custom Corner: MP Gautheron

Welcome to the August 2016 edition of Reactor-88's Custom Corner. This month we’re featuring MP Gautheron.

What’s your name?

My name is Marie-Pascale Gautheron, but my artist name is MP Gautheron.

Where are you located?

I live in Lyon, one of the biggest cities in France.

Day job or full-time artist?

I am lucky enough to be a full-time artist :) It has always have been my passion and I’ve never done anything else!

Any random things you want people to know about you?

I do not work only on vinyl toys, I also paint my patterns on skulls and my first passion is to paint with acrylics on a wood canvas- compositions with skulls, animals, patterns with a lot of details and precision!

How long have you been painting toys?

In 2013, a French toy collector asked me to realize my patterns on a big Bearbrick 1000%. At that time I didn't know what it was, but I accepted and I loved making it! Once I finished it I published pictures on my social networks and my Bearbrick had a lot of success. After that, people contacted me to paint other toys! Since then I often have new commissions!

Anything specific you’d like people to know about your toy work (style, influences, special techniques, etc.)?

I paint my toys with acrylic paints, dot by dot, very meticulously- it takes me a lot of time! Sometimes I work with black light painting- I like the fact that my works have an other beauty in the dark with black light! My influences are my life, my feelings and moods. I love colors, details!

Do you take commissions?

Yes of course, most of my work on vinyl toys are commissions! I am not afraid to work on new models!
