Pop Life will be offering several new SFBI Originals figures at the Beijing Toy Show (9.7 – 9.9) via Filmboat (Booths A20-21).  Before we dive into all the releases lined for BTS, let’s start things off with a brand-new release, the Smurfette SFBI which is the first Pop Life x Smurfs toy.

In addition to the Smurfette’s Debut, Filmboat will also have a large number of Pop Life figures including Ron English’s Liberty Grin and MC Supersized Black Light Magic (Yellow) figures as well the Mc SuperSized Minis from Secret Base

An Intro to Beijing Toy Show 2018

IMG_2564 2

Beijing Toy Show is this weekend (9.7 – 9.9) at the China National Convention Center on the edge of Olympic Park.  Organized by Pop Mart, the show follows the first BTS (2017) and the first STS which was held in April of this year.  This year, BTS is more than doubling in size with 13,000 square meters of exhibition space featuing a strong mix of Asian brands and creators with perhaps the best selection of Chinese artists of any art toy show.

While there are too many to list here, participating artists include Kenny Wong, Kasing Lung, Eric So, Pucky, Chino Lam, Coarse, T9G, Shoko Nakazawa and Seulgie.  Check the beautiful BTS map and vendor list to get a better feel for the show.

Jink Wu x UCC – Moggie Watermelon Bird for BTS (9.7 – 9.9)

After his STS debut this past April, Moggie returns in a new Watermelon Bird edition for Beijing Toy Show (9.7 – 9.9).   Featuring translucent  soft vinyl, the new edition offers a new take on ‘refreshment’ with an evocative color scheme perfect for a hot summer day.  The contrast between the watermelon-hued straw and the dark green bird works really well.  Limited to just 50 pieces,  Moggie is waiting for you at BTS in Booth C81

Coarse at Beijing Toy Show – Jaws Half Moon and Aura Half Moon

In conjunction with Pop Mart, Coarse will release two new figures at next week’s Beijing Toy Show (9.7 – 9.9) – a new version of an old friend and a brand-new, stunning Asian-inspired showcase piece.

The new Jaws Half Moon (10.5”) marks a return for one of Coarse’s signature at a smaller size, pairing Noop with his cunning shark gear.  If you don’t have a Jaws in your collection, this is an unexpected new opportunity – not to be missed.

As excited as we are for a new Jaws, Aura is plain nuts. This one features a Lion Dance-inspired Noop with a dragon riding piggyback!  Nearly two figures in one, Aura Half Moon promises plenty of head turning moments. In fact I’ve caught myself staring at its crazy profile several times, mid-sentence, the experience overwhelming the yet-to-come words.

It might sound trite to say that Coarse has outdone themselves but it’s true. Aura eclipses their East Meets West Noop figure from about 2008 with that dragon. The sculpt and the pose are spot on.  One to remember for next Spring’s Toy of the Year discussion.

Jaws Half Moon (899 RMB /~$131) and Aura Half Moon (1399 RMB / ~$205) will be available starting on Friday (9.7) at Coarse’s BTS booth [#B12].
