Seen: Jesse Hernandez -- Jaguar Knight Fuego Red Signing @ Toy Art Gallery
On Saturday afternoon, Jesse Hernandez signed his Jaguar Knight Fuego @ Toy Art Gallery on Melrose. Jesse signed figures + boxes for collectors as well as sketched in books and on Munnys. Limited to 100 pieces, the TAG exclusive 12" figure is one of just a handful of red GID figures out there. Produced by Pobber, the figure is available now directly from TAG for $120.

Seen: Tristan Eaton x kaNO – Bodega Release at BAIT
BAIT celebrated the release of their exclusive Tristan Eaton Bodega figure with a signing with both Tristan and Bodega creator kaNO on Friday. Limited to 100 pieces, Tristan’s orange edition featuring his tribal queen adds a sexy and charged flair to the Bodega which blends quarter waters, spray cans, and a dose of urban toughness. kaNO also offered a few of his hard-to-come-by purple Bodegas which will eventually be released directly on his site. Collectors both local and non-local came out to BAIT’s flagship store in Diamond Bar, to pick up the new Bodegas and to have both artists sketch and customize DIY toys. The first 30 collectors who picked up a new Bodega also came away with the super-limited (60 pcs total) black Tristan x kaNO tee from fate as a free bonus. The shirts look sharp with the 50/50 design. If you missed the event, Tristan’s Bodega and the Tees will be available shortly on BAIT’s web store.

Seen: Scribe & Ardabus Rubber Dunny Signings @ BAIT and KRLA
To kick off the release of Kidrobot’s Dunny 2013, series artists Scribe and Ardabus Rubber sketched, customized and signed not once, but twice over the weekend in greater Los Angeles – first on Friday @ Kidrobot LA on Melrose and then on Saturday @ BAIT in Diamond Bar. Both artists went the extra mile – customizing Munny World figures of all shapes and sizes from micro munnys to a mega munny. On Friday, both artists went an 1.5 hrs pass the scheduled 8 PM end time to make sure everyone went away happy. On Saturday, the pair made their first visit to BAIT’s gorgeous flagship store in Diamond Bar and quickly picked right up where they left off, signing Dunnys, customizing Munnys, including a Mega Munny for the store’s collection. As is their tradition, BAIT showcased the new Dunnys as well as Scribe’s previous work including the Resound Field Guide Minis (Cardboard Spaceship), in displays complete with laser-engraved wood plaques. Scribe Dunny 2013 Signing @ BAIT (6.15)
To celebrate the release of Kidrobot’s Dunny 2013 series, BAIT will host a special signing event with series artist Scribe on Saturday (6.15) in Diamond Bar. Known for his detailed cartoon-styled animal characters, Scribe created a moustached, bare chested, tough guy design, featured in the series in both a standard and rare edition. He’ll be signing from 2-4 PM. Drop by, pick up some Dunnys, and get your new Scribe Dunnys signed by the awesome dude behind the art. Frank Kozik – A Clockwork Carrot Release / Signing @ TAG
Frank Kozik will release and sign his new ‘A Clockwork Carrot’ sofubi at Toy Art Gallery on Saturday (6.8). Sculpted by T9G and produced by BlackBook Toy, A Clockwork Carrot is Frank’s big homage (11.25”) to Stanley Kubrick’s cult classic. This badass hare is ready to commit Ultraviolence on whomever or whatever crosses his path.
Two versions of the figure will be available at the signing – the OG painted edition ($125) as well as the TAG x BlackBook Toy shared exclusive Pure White Evil edition (20 pcs total, $125). BlackBook will release their 10 pieces on 6.12 via their online shop.

Outland Exclusive Shadow Death Serpent by Jesse Hernandez (6.16)
Outland Designertoys in the Netherlands will celebrate their 8th Anniversary (congrats!) with the June 16th release and signing of their exclusive Shadow Death Serpent (80 pcs) created by Jesse Hernandez and produced by Kuso Vinyl. As you can see in these factory shots, the black + silver treatment adds an extra does of wicked to Jesse’s newest figure. If you’re in Amsterdam, be sure to block out June 16th so you can meet Jesse in person and pick up one of these bad boys. Also, we’ll keep you updated on online release info.
So while we’ve seen a few sweet pictures of the OG Death Serpent, the factory shots after the jump really give you an overall feel for the full figure rather than just it’s menacing front. This is a figure that needs be viewed from all angles in order to appreciate its considerable sculptural detail. We’re definitely looking forward to seeing one of these in person.
Clutter’s 2nd Toy Mafia Event (5.25)
Last month Clutter held their first Toy Mafia event featuring several exclusive toy drops at Concrete Bar in NYC. For the followup, they’ve enlisted Mark Nagata, Ultimate Skull & Cobra, Devilboy, and Monster Island to create exclusives for the 2nd monthly event (5.25). So far, two of the four exclusives have been revealed – Mark Nagata’s Micro Kaiju Negora (2.5”, 12 pcs, $30) and Roid Randy from Ultimate Skull & Cobra (6” resin, 5 each of both colorways, $65). Scott Tolleson x Luke Chueh x 3DRetro – Bartholomew Punchyface Release (4.13)
The wait is almost over. 3DRetro will launch Scott Tolleson and Luke Chueh’s Bartholomew Punchyface OG edition plush on Friday, April 13th @ Giant Robot 2. The adorable yet sad and vulnerable nerd bear nicely represents both artists’ aesthetics. Scott and Luke will also be releasing a 2-print set based on their Bartholomew paintings. Pricing is still yet to be determined, but the bear should go for about 40 and the print set should be in the $50 - $60 range. Drop by the release to pick up the plush to rescue him from would-be bullies or if you have a twisted side, to bully him yourself.

Seen: G.I. Joe Mini-Fig Release and Art Show @ BAIT
Two Saturdays ago, The Loyal Subjects and BAIT collaborated on a G.I. Joe event featuring the release of the new G.I. Joe minis from TLS and an art show offering visions bold, cute, and sexy. If you grew up on the cartoon, this is the event for you – celebrating all things Joe – toys and art.
The new toy series features a total of eleven designs including three chases – hooded cobra commanders, black hooded cobra commander, red ninja. While the minis have a designer toy body style they also come with detailed weapons and other accessories – a nice mix. The designer of the mini-fig series, Les Schettkoe was on-hand to sign the toys for collectors.
The art show featured original art and prints from a large group of artists including Jerome Lu, Tracy Tubera, Maxx242, Gregory Siff, Kwestone, and more. Some of the highlight pieces include Les Schettkoe’s Cobra Trooper spraying graffiti over the Joes’ logo, sexy visions of the baroness by Maxx242 and Menso and Tracy Tubera’s stylized Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes complete with oversized kicks. Mixed in with the art, BAIT also showcased their G.I. Joe toy collection from the original Hasbro action figures to hyper-realistic 1:6 scale figures.

BAIT x The Loyal Subjects – G.I. Joe Minis Release + Art Exhibit (3.23)
BAIT will host the official launch event and signing for the brand new G.I. Joe minifigures from the Loyal Subjects on Saturday (3.23) @ their flagship store in Diamond Bar. Series designer Les Schettkoe will be on-hand to sign the detailed figures for fans. As a fun bonus, a pair of tickets to the world premiere of the new G.I. Joe: Retaliation film will be raffle away to one lucky winner.The event will also feature a group art show with pieces by Jonathan Bergeron, Gregory Siff, Les Schettkoe, Kidokyo, Greg Storey and more. Seen: Shane Jessup – Lucky Cat Android Signing @ BAIT
If you like Lucky Cats, chances are good you’re eagerly awaiting the new Lucky Cat Androids designed by Shane Jessup for Andrew Bell’s Dyzplastic. On Saturday, BAIT hosted a release party and signing for the new figures which should be on their way to retailers around the country. While these looked great in the press photos, a few including the pearlescent white and the glossy black look even sharper in person. As a fun bonus for collectors, BAIT worked with Shane to create four 5”x5” mini-prints and offered one print for those that purchase six boxes and all four for case purchasers.
I don’t normally comment on toy signatures per se, but as you can see in the photos after the jump, Shane has one of the fanciest, cursive signatures I’ve ever seen on a vinyl toy. Tag? No sir… John Hancock would be proud.
Fellow artists kaNO and Tristan Eaton (aka Dunny Creator) came out to support and also took turns doodling on BAIT’s previously pristine 20” Gold King Dunny – each rocking an eye. Hopefully other artists will keep this going.
Props to Shane for a job well done on these and kudos to Andrew for seeing the possibility of going beyond a single figure or event a box set and making an entire Lucky Cat series. Missed the prints at the opening ? Give BAIT a call for more info.

Seen: Luke Chueh’s Black + Gold Target Signing
Munky King opened the doors to its new studio space in Culver City for the release and signing of Luke Chueh’s Black + Gold Target (500 pcs, $120) signing this past Saturday. A good sized crowd of collectors waited patiently in the two-story space to purchase the new toy as well as the ‘Everybody Needs a Little Head’ keychains. As with the SDCC release, Luke drew on the included red resin wall diorama. Making the sketching a bit interactive, he gave collectors two options to finish off the sketched bear – a crown or ‘Shoot to Kill’. Black + Gold Target shirts and prints were also available.
The new inviting space feels like a remix of the Melrose location, familiar with many of the original display cases and furniture yet more open with high ceilings and a large lounge area on the ground floor. A second story loft office overlooks the entryway and features a display facade of numerous toys from the brand’s personal collection for all to enjoy.
Once collectors had finished with the signing, it was taco time courtesy of
Munky King. While Munky King has moved and transformed itself into more of a pure brand, they still know how to take care of the people who have made it all possible.

Shane Jessup – Android Lucky Cat Series Signing @ BAIT + Bonus Prints
BAIT will host a release party / signing for the new Android Lucky Cat Series with designer Shane Jessup on Saturday (3.16) at their Diamond Bar Location. To celebrate the new series from Andrew Bell’s Dyzplastic, BAIT has created four 5” mini-prints of Shane’s Lucky Cat designs (red, gold, white and black). Collectors will receive one of the bonus prints with the purchase of six of the new Androids and all four with the purchase of a case (a full set of twelve figures).

Seen: Jesse Hernandez’s Jaguar Knight Signing @ TAG
Jesse Hernandez made the trip to LA for his first official signing/release of the OG Jaguar Knight (Pobber) @ Toy Art Gallery on Saturday evening. Quite a few collectors showed up to get figures signed (including many older pieces) and one had Jesse sketch on a black deck. In person, the Jaguar Knight is impressive. It’s almost a full 12” at the tip of the helmet feathers, has a good chunky appearance, and the large-scale shield and macuahuitl really add to the overall feel of the figure.
In addition to the standard OG edition (360 pcs, $120), Jesse also signed the gold chase figures for a few lucky collectors. Looking to do something special for TAG, Jesse used a silver paint marker to hand embellish (splatter) a few toys. Fellow artists kaNO and Marka27 dropped by for the start of a great night in LA.
