Seen: Pushead - ‘Year 35’ Show
Pushead held an invite-only Year 35 show in NYC at TT Underground during the NYCC weekend. While we weren’t in town for the convention this year, here’s a close-up look at the show courtesy of our friend and longtime Pushead collector Kirkland Jue.
Pushead was joined by longtime Japanese collaborators Take-Shit (Fink Shit) and Hirota. The three artists packed the showroom with a drool-worthy selection of sofbui and 2D art.
Over the course of three and a half decades, Pushead has created a dizzying number of radical characters, illustrations and paintings and in the process spun his own visual language of pus, skeletons, and undead beauty. A large collection of black+white photocopied illustrations, arts, and fliers stapled to the wall served as a fitting retrospective to his ever-growing body of work.
Year 35 saw several new toy debuts including Pushead’s new SOUR (The Scourge of SnotBlower) figure. This sour skull cherry was sculpted by Cosmo Liquid and cast by Hirota. Hirota also debuted a new Kraken figure and new robot figure.
Fans of the popular Itamu Pushead x Hirota figure were greeted with an entire case of one-of-a-kind versions of the battle-savaged mecha gorilla including translucent and marbled treatments. The one-of-a-kind bonanza continued with a full wall of unique Cococrocs.
The main display case also featured a selection of Evil Shits, 400% Pushead Be@bricks from Medicom, and other assorted goodies. Finally, several Pus originals and prints were available as well.
