Itokin Park (Kazuhiko Ito) makes two amazing space explorer figures—the classic Astronaut and the 2001-inspired Space Mode Man. Which is your favorite? We love both of them, so instead of choosing one or the other, we decided to indulge ourselves and you with one of each—not one exclusive, but two. Going with this crazy idea, the next question was should we do matching pairs or something completely different?
Kazu sent us five Space Mode Man designs. Four were variations of solid green + black, but one completely blew us away. Camouflage! Must make. Kazu had never done a Camo design so we’re really happy he offered to give it a shot. We wondered how he was going to do this and he replied that it would be done 100% in spray.
To make the 10th Anniversary Space Mode Man a reality, Kazu went the extra mile with an intricate, time-consuming painting process. The result is a nicely varied camo effect with sharp, distinct individual elements. Each figure is truly a hand-done piece, no two are exactly alike. The little space trooper is so cute!

10 Years…! I started Vinyl Pulse somewhat on a whim back in the Spring of 2005. I couldn’t find a good news source about these crazy vinyl toys I was addicted to, and hey, it was a chance to try out blogging. I started the blog without a clue as to the awesome people I would meet, the places I would travel for my “job”, or the joy I would have writing about and photographing amazing art toys.
How to celebrate a decade of blogging? While I thought about a few different ideas, the answer was pretty obvious. I love vinyl toys, so a 10th Anniversary Exclusive was a must. But who should I ask ? Itokin Park! He did our first exclusive, the Vinyl Pulse Robo back in 2006, so asking him to help us remember this milestone seemed, perfect.
So I sent off an email to Kazu, sweated out his response, and was really excited when he agreed to make a Vinyl Pulse Exclusive Astronaut (love this toy!). He sent quite a few different designs which all looked great. After several days of going back and forth trying to decide, I realized this little guy with his eclectic green hair and his black + green space suit was too cool to pass up. And, then there was the choice of which astronaut toy to make, the regular ‘capsule’ one or the 2001 inspired Space Mode Man? That choice proved too difficult—more about that soon.
Kazu always goes out of his way to make incredible things. In addition to the toy which he hand-painted, he also took the time to create an awesome header for the release complete with the 10th Anniversary Astronaut … and the VP Robo! Plus he made sweet matching buttons as a fun bonus for collectors.
We will release the Vinyl Pulse x Itokin park 10th Anniversary Exclusive Astronaut (3.5”) on Friday, June 19th @ 7:30 AM PDT for $35 (+s/h) from Vinylpulse.com. Each figure will come with a mini sticker sheet plus separately packaged button.

The wait is almost over... The GID Red Demon figure from Muttpop will drop next week @ Vinyl Pulse Exclusives on Wednesday, June 27th for a special advance sale. The glow edition will sell for $40 (same as the original Red Demon) + shipping/tax. This advance sale will come and go in a flash, ending on Friday, June 29th. Figures will ship the first week of July. The GID Red Demon is limited to 250 pieces.

We've got exciting news. Tokyo-based artist Mizna Wada will be attending SDCC courtesy of Kaching Brand. Mizna created the HA-CHOO Monkey Style Boxing figure. With her upcoming visit we also have good news for people who purchase the VP Exclusive of HA-CHOO. While the only way to purchase this blue edition is to purchase it from VP Exclusives, we have a cool "delivery" option for those of you going to SDDC. If you are planning to attend SDCC, you can opt to pick up your VP HA-CHOO at the Kaching Brand booth and then have Mizna sign it for you at a scheduled signing. So this way you avoid shipping charges, get to meet Mizna and have her sign your toy.
